Trip to the fire station

A few weeks before Hannah arrived Lisa and I took the boys down to the Fredericksburg Fire Station. It was a blast, the boys all had a great time! They got fire hats, dalmatian dogs, and coloring books and the firemen were great with them! The picture below cracks me up, I think Maddux would have been fine if he had seen the firemen get dressed up, they just appeared out of nowhere and he was a bit freaked!

This would have been great if his eyes had been opened.
This was after he climbed in from the back of the ambulance, took the keys and tried to start it up, and no he's not even two, haha! You can see the fireman at the bottom confiscating the keys...

So after church Maddux ate lunch and then he got a visitor from the easter bunny. The easter bunny left him a trail of eggs to find leading up to his easter bucket. He is a great egg finder!

Here is his easter bucket! He got some plastic animals, a big bubble maker with lots of bubble juice, some color wonder markers and coloring book and a chocolate egg. He loved his basket!

Maddux really enjoyed making sugar cookies. He did a really good job using the cookie cutters and rolling the dough out. He did get a lot of flour on his shirt, but what a good helper.

Last week Brooke came over to play for a bit. Maddux and Brooke go to church together. They did a really good job and actually played together quite a bit for their age. There is only a few months difference in age so it was a lot of fun to watch them play!

We are really lucky to have horses so close to our house. Kathy and Kevin finally moved into their new house and the horses are there with them. Maddux usually goes up and feeds them a couple times a week. The horses see Maddux coming and immediately start talking to him, they know they are getting food! Dollface, the white horse is expecting a foal next week so that will be fun for Maddux to watch it grow!!!

Maddux took a little spill in the creek behind our house, don't worry Pop was there. So this is what came in my house when it was like 40 degrees outside, I couldn't quite figure it out till Pop came in and told us what had happened. Maddux was a great sport and loved getting in the sink!

Maddux loves the vacuum and given any excuse he will ask for it and very happily vacuum all over for me! He even loves to say night night to it before his nap and bedtime!

He likes the vacuum so much he'll ride on it, be pushed by it, and practically be attacked by it loving it all the time!

Sorry that it has been so long since I actually blogged. You would think that being on bedrest would give me a lot of time to do things like this but not necessarily with an 18 month old! Here are some pics of Matt and Maddux and Summer playing in the little bit of snow that we got this winter. I'm glad it snowed at least a little so Maddux would get to play in his snow pants and boots that Meme and Grandpa gave him for Christmas! Enjoy!!!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I know we did. My parents and Matt's parents and Brett and Kerri came over to eat and hang out today! It was so nice to have everyone here, especially since Kerri's been in CA for the past two Thanksgivings. We really enjoyed having her here this year!! We didn't do anything too exciting, just ate, enjoyed each other's company and relaxed! These pictures are in no particular order. My computer always seems to jumble them up, I never know exactly how they will post.

Well, the curls are gone for now. It was looking so much like a mullet that I had to get him a haircut. He now looks like a little boy instead of a baby. I miss the curls but I think as his hair grows that they will come back!

First of all you are going to have to understand while posting this that I'm extremely sleep deprived and beyond exhausted. Maddux had a cold and is cutting teeth so he hasn't been sleeping well, therefore I haven't been sleeping well. And on top of that My dad was admitted to the ICU on Tuesday night with a heart block and erratic pulse problems. Many sleepless hours later, he has a clean bill of health for the arteries and coranaries in his heart and a pacemaker to regulate his electrical issues. So hopefully he's coming home tomorrow!

Below is a video of some things we've found to do with the dark times that used to be light outside playtime before daylight savings. Enjoy! I have many stories to share, but I can't hold my eyes open so I must go to sleep, must go to sleep, must go to....................

Maddux would hold on behind Clay for laps around the downstairs. It was so cute, every once in awhile Maddux would fall down and Clay would stop and turn around and say "Maddux okay??" until Maddux got up and was ready to go again.

Giant Pumpkins

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we went to the pumpkin patch. It was so much fun! Maddux had a blast and did everything that we allowed him to do. He did the giant slide with daddy. It's an underground tunnel slide. He climbed on the giant pumpkins, and saw all the goats, pigs, cows, and chickens. He even got to see some pig races, boy were they cute pigs! Then we went on a hayride out to the lit up pumpkin patch and we found some great pumpkins!!! We then ate dinner, in the dark, and then Maddux went into the hay barn for a little while. He loved everything and did great staying up about an hour past bedtime. Let's just say he was really ready for bed tonight!!!! Pictures will follow tomorrow as I'm too tired and suffering from allergies from the hay ride last night!

Silly Maddux

Maddux can be quite silly lately and I thought I'd share a few instances of that silliness! Here he is during a visit to Madison in Joe and Jennifer's new barn. Of course Matt is down there holding him up, we just thought this would be funny.

One of Maddux's favorite silly things is plowing Summer. Here he is in the process of rolling Summer. Summer doesn't really like it, but she tolerates it. Sometimes he'll push her across the floor. I never thought in a million years that Summer would be this good with him.

Maddux absolutely loves his singing mirror. It's the only toy I've bought that he really really really loves and plays with multiple times during the day. This was Matt's grandfather's organ that Maddux loves to play.

The other day it rained almost all day and if you know Maddux he loves to have his outside time. Well, we moved the car out of the garage and let him play out there. Boy did he get into a lot of fun things! Let's just say the garage is not baby proof! He had a great time and Gam and Pop totally wore him out.

We are so happy to have Kerri back in town! Maddux quickly took to Kerri and loves playing with her and her animals. In fact all of Maddux's buddies love Kerri too! Maddux screams for Ice Cream!

Maddux LOVES ice cream. He takes after his daddy! We took him to Brusters where he happily enjoyed an entire baby cone, ice cream and cone! Of course he decided he needed to have everyone else's ice cream too! Here he is walking around asking questions with his hands! He was probably picking up trash and throwing it away so he was probably asking "where is the trash?"

At the river, a very random trip....

We took Maddux down to the river and he really loved it. We put him in the backpack and hiked down about a half mile to the river from River Bluffs. Along the way he serenaded us with his beautiful singing voice. We we got down to the river we noticed some canoes coming down the river and low and behold someone started calling out our name. It was Darren Hickman! Talk about random. He was followed by some of the Massaponax teachers. Everyone was saying Hi to Matt and laughing about how random it was that it happened! You can see Maddux enjoyed the little rapids. The river was very low by the way.

We have been lucky to frequent different pools this summer. Here we are with Beth and Lily. We have enjoyed playing at the pool with Lily a few times this summer. Maddux has gotten a lot better about walking in the baby pool. He loved playing with this paintbrush that Beth brought.
The filter was also very fun to play with. You can see Maddux looking on as Lily opens the filter to probably get Dora out, her doll.
Maddux liked playing with the pink bucket although I'm sure Matt would have rather it been blue or green, haha!

Daddy needs a new office, haha!

So Matt is moving into an office for work. For many reasons, including the one below. This is what Maddux likes to do when Daddy is in his office. He loves him so much he wants to be with him! I sure am glad Maddux loves his Daddy! We'll miss you in and out during the day Daddy but I'm sure you will get much more work done!

Trip to the Zoo!

Last Saturday we braved the National Zoo. The drive in and out was a little interesting but all in all a good time was had by all. We went with the Boyers and the Yagers and enjoyed spending time with them! Here is a tiger relaxing. Maddux thought that they would come to him like Summer if he called them by clucking and slapping his side. Good thing they didn't!

Maddux's new tricks!

Maddux has recently started to flex like a bodybuilder. Not quite sure where he picked that up. It was either from Matt playing around or from Pop and the strong sticks outside that they play with while going to check on the flags at our neighbor's house. Anyways, it's quite funny!

Maddux has also recently acquired an old cell phone of mine. However I do not recommend this to anyone else. It had a little battery life left and one evening while we were at small group and Matt's parents were babysitting he called 911. I did not realize that you could do this from an old cell phone that had no sim card, but apparently you can! All I can say is I'm glad Cindy intercepted the call because if not the fire trucks and police and rescue squad would have made a trip to see our house. How they can track a disconnected cell phone is a mystery to me. Anyways, you can also check out his new tennis shoes in this video. I finally got him a pair and he does quite well in them. He was running around so much outside I thought it was time to get him a pair!

We have had a great few weeks. Maddux is really running around and a lot steadier on his feet and he sure is having fun exploring and helping mommy out! Here is a pic of Maddux in his pool with a few water balloons. He really likes those water balloons! Thanks Gam and Pop!!
I was unloading the groceries one afternoon and Maddux decided he was going to help me get them into the house. Except he did everything with them except for take them in the house, haha! Here he is smelling the flowers with his grocery bag. I guess he got sidetracked.
I think he just realized that his snacks were in the bag he was carrying around.
You can see in the background where he dropped the first bag.
We went over to Lizzie, Brian, and Jack Barnes' house and had dinner. The boys really enjoyed playing together. Jack just followed Maddux around everywhere and was very interested. Maddux was really good about sharing with Jack!

A day with Aunt Judy

We went to visit Aunt Judy and her horses and Maddux was right at home. He even helped with the barn chores!

The Fredericksburg Fair

We recently went to check out the Fredericksburg Fair with the Boyers. Maddux liked everything except for the Monster Truck, we won't talk about that. Maddux got to see a lot of different animals, vehicles, and rides.
Maddux thought that the camel was really neat. I think the camel liked him too!

Hilton Head

We went to Hilton Head SC last week with my family. We had a great time! Maddux loved everything from the beach to the park to the bikes! Thank you Meme and Grandpa! We also had a great time with my brother Brian and his wife Cindy and daughter Savannah! We can't wait to go back!

Dad decided to head out to the beach and hold down our fort! It was a perfect day for playing at the beach!
The first day we went on a walk to find the best way to the beach and no one was smart enough to ride the bikes, haha! Maddux fell asleep in his little red car and Matt had to carry him home!

Savannah did a great job playing and helping Maddux all week! It was so much fun to watch them entertain each other, especially in the car and on the beach!

Maddux loves his new car that Pop just happened upon when someone was getting rid of it! Lucky us! We have been all over downtown and central park in it. Maddux loves it! You can see he's quite comfy with his arm propped and leg stretched out!

The Pink Panther, aka Maddux

Last night after bathtime there was an ant on the floor. If it had just been me and Maddux it would have quickly been a dead ant, but lucky for the ant, or not so lucky, Matt was around too. And we all know how boys and bugs go together. So the two, Maddux and Matt, preceded to play with the ant, chasing it, picking it up, and so on. Maddux finally had a good grip on it and I told Matt he's gonna put it in his mouth, hurry and get it. Well, Matt didn't believe me, and Maddux had an after bath snack. Luckily it was a blank ant, a little extra protein and all is well today. I think Matt now understands what they mean when they say babies put everything in their mouths!

Happy 4th!

We had a wonderful July 4th celebration. Sorry these pictures are not in any order as you can see. Pop let us use his river lots to hang out downtown and we all had a great time! The people there were Pop, Matt, me, Maddux , Grandpa, Meme, Darren, Lisa, Brennan, Scott, Clay and Scott's Parents. We had great food, air conditioning to cool off and for Maddux to nap in and a great view of the fireworks. We also enjoyed walking around downtown and watching the river raft race! It was a great day!

Maddux never ceases to amaze me. The vocabulary that he already knows is amazing to me. He might not be able to say it yet, but he sure knows what we are talking about. He will take trash to the trash can and throw it away. He knows where the vents, clocks, and smoke detectors are. When he's ready for a nap or bedtime he'll come to the chair and reach for his pacifiers in the crib. When he gets up from his nap he'll take his pacifier out and motion to the crib and then he'll put his pacifier back in the crib. The video above is from him kicking the balls.

The video below was from one of the days that Maddux was sick where we were looking for anything to entertain him. We pulled out the bubbles and Summer went crazy, so here's a video of our (first child) dog playing with the bubbles. Maddux really enjoyed watching her!

Been Gone awhile...

Well, Maddux has survived his first really high fever. I'm not quite sure what he had. It may have been a throat infection or just a really bad cold. He ran a fever for 5 days and now is just dealing with a snotty nose. Now if I could get rid of what I've got we'd be good to go. Here are some pics and videos of what's been going on this week!

A trip to the Zoo

Maddux and Gam and I went to the Richmond zoo this week with some friends we have made, Erika and Sam. It was so great! Maddux really liked watching the monkeys and the prairie dogs. He also enjoyed the giraffes as you can see from the video. So much that he even ate some giraffe food!

Maddux is actually getting some teeth finally. He has two getting ready to pop through on the bottom. He's been up at night and a bit cranky, but not too bad. I put some stuff on his gums when he got up super early this morning and he went right back to sleep so I know it is his teeth. Hopefully soon I'll have some cute pics with some teeth!

Double Ear Infections.....Again

Maddux has been waking up screaming the past two nights so I took him to the doctor today to get his ears checked to rule out ear infections.......too bad they didn't rule them out. He has a double ear infection again and it wasn't even that long since he had the last one. I'm wondering if he has seasonal allergies like I do, poor baby. Anyways, at least the infections are not as bad as they were last time so hopefully we'll be able to beat them out of him for good. Anyone have any good advice for dealing with or hopefully avoiding ear infections? Sometimes I feel like a bad mom because he got them again. Please tell me that there is something I can do!

On a happier note, I can now say that Maddux is quite talented. He was able to pick up a moving ant two times today. I was rather impressed! Bet you don't know where he tried to put the ant.....you guessed right, his mouth! Yuck! Matt rescued the ant before it became Maddux's dinner!

Father's Day

Father's Day was a complete success all the way around today! We had everyone over and Matt grilled, yes he wanted to do that! We are starting to do this quite often. We used to go out, but with a little one it's much easier to stay in as you all know I'm sure. Maddux got some good time in his pool this afternoon too! He'll kill me when he's 16 and realizes I put this on the Internet, haha! Yes we let him go without swim trunks, it's not a public pool!
Summer even wanted to join Maddux in the pool this afternoon. Maddux was playing fetch with her and she was going after her ball. He doesn't throw it that far, haha!
He loves to be sprayed by the freezing cold well water, yes I know it's weird, but he loves it!

Maddux has also learned the sign for Thank you! He started doing it today and we thought he was blowing kisses, but I realized that every time he did it I said thank you and he kept doing it and then when he heard us saying thank you to each other he would start doing it again so we figured out that he was probably using it as thank you! Sorry that was probably the worst run-on sentence I've ever written! I've been doing this one for awhile so I'm glad to see he has picked it up!

Maddux has also really started to get the hang of the walking. He'll go round and round for a long time now and he'll even carry stuff with him. It's amazing how much better he's gotten in 2 weeks!

Books Books and more Books

If you are around Maddux very long you know he loves books. Stay more than 5 minutes with him and he'll be bringing you a book. He loves turning the pages and looking at the picture. I have a book that has flaps that you lift up and he will bring that to you about 10 times in a row. He will tell you what a sheep says and a bee, although the bee sound is basically him spitting instead of buzzing, haha! I could have sworn the other day he actually said duck when he saw the picture, but who knows. So if you are ever in the mood for a good book, ask Maddux, he has a few he wouldn't mind recommending!

Spring Training

Maddux has begun to learn how to play with this toy. Thanks to Gam and Pop for the baseball training toy! It's really cute to see him do new things!

I bought Maddux a little pool to cool off in when it gets super hot. This was his first time in it! I think he likes it!

Wow, we sure do a lot! The first series is from a playdate with Brennan and Clay Boyer. Maddux is really into puzzles as you can see. He also really liked playing with some of Clay's push toys! There is also a video of Maddux and Clay being silly at lunch! Maddux likes to make Clay laugh! And Clay loves to help Maddux learn new things! We love the Boyers!

After dinner or any meal that is Maddux has developed something I like to call the monkey dance. He stands on my lap and jumps up and down and squeals, then he usually kisses my nose. Here is a little clip of it!

And last but not least I have been signing with Maddux a little bit and yesterday he used the sign All Done. Not only did he use it, he used it correctly and surprised me! Here is Maddux's version of All Done! It's not perfect, but I think it's great!

The Park, I think he's off! and Funny Noises!

Here are a few pics of the concert in the park that we go to on Tuesdays in Fredericksburg. You can see Clay and Brennan Boyer with Lisa and my mom is there stretched out in the background! We love these afternoons! Clay brought some toys to share today and you can see in the bottom picture that Maddux is taking full advantage of them!!

Well, I think he's off! He's been walking around a bit but today he's off, everywhere! See the video for proof! Let's just say we're putting up the gates!!

Here is another video of dinner one night where Maddux was making some funny noises with each bite. Now whenever Clay is around Maddux does it and the two just go back and forth. It is really funny!

Things I have recently learned about Maddux

This past weekend was fun but a bit crazy. Between Maddux being sick and some Rothell family stopping by it was a bit of a whirlwind, but oh so fun! Maddux got to spend some quality time with Nanny, Eric, Tammy, Seth and Jared. We really enjoyed having them.

On the other hand I learned quite a bit about Maddux this past weekend. 1. He will sleep regardless of how much he eats. 2. He will sleep regardless of how much noise there is at night. 3. He will take medicine from you happily if you let him hold the container first, believe me I learned that the hard way. Weird I know! 4. He doesn't like his nose wiped, no matter if he has gobs of snot all over his face.

Here are a few videos and pics of our weekend! We also took some time and planted some flowers, that was fun, but fun that I'm currently paying for with a stuffed up nose and lots of allergy meds. Oh well!

Double Ear Infections

Well, Maddux has finally been bitten by the sick bug. He had been fussy for the past few days and not sleeping well during the day so I called the doctor and they wanted to see him after his temp went over 101. So off to the doctor's office we went yesterday and he in fact had a double ear infection and was congested. Poor baby. For being sick he was a great baby. Yesterday afternoon was pretty bad, no apetite, couldn't sleep, just plain miserable, but he was able to sleep last night and woke up with no fever and in a pretty good mood. So hopefully we are on the mend!

We had a great day today! We went with Matt to check a job out and then we went over to the Boyer's and let the boys play and had dinner together. The pics below are all the fun things that Maddux got to do today. I'm trying to get the video of the jumper loaded cause it is really funny. Let's just say Maddux wasn't interested in jumping.Maddux in the jumper. He's never been in one before and he had no clue that you were supposed to jump. He just ran around and around in circles, it was really funny! Hopefully you'll be able to see the video below. I didn't get to add the best video but at least I got one with a little action on it! I guess the one I wanted to do was too big.

Happy Mother's Day!

I had a wonderful first mother's day with my family on Sunday. Maddux had a lot of fun playing with Gam and Uncle Brett, Meme and Grandpa, and of course Matt and I. Matt smoked a couple of chickens and Gam and Meme brought over some food that they had made too! We also celebrated Matt's birthday which was Monday. He is 29!

Maddux has really started to be interested in books. He loves to open and close them and always wants to take them off of the bookshelf. I put him in the basket and he grabbed a book and started talking and reading.

Storms last night!

Okay so those of you who know me pretty well know how deathly afraid I am of thunderstorms. It doesn't matter if it's a little one or not, a thunderstorm is a thunderstorm. Matt knows that when a storm is coming he's not going to sleep until the radar is clear. Well last night was no exception. We had quite a few major storms come through our area last night and we were monitoring the situation constantly. Thank goodness for power and cable! We decided about 10:10 to go get Maddux up and go to the basement and after seeing some of the houses just north of us in Stafford I'm glad we did. We were in the clear from the worst storm about 11:10 so back to sleep Maddux went and right back down he went! Praise God we were safe and sound! Okay, I know they say don't let the little ones see how scared you are because you don't want to give them your fears, let's just say I did a great job faking it! Maddux and I sat down in the basement singing and touching the wall pretending to camp out! Well, I'm glad last night is over, hopefully we'll all sleep soundly tonight!!

Peek-a-boo and Clapping too!

This day in particular Maddux really wanted to clap and clap and clap some more. He was cheering mom and dad on while we were passing the ball back and forth.

Crawling update, slowly but surely we'll get it!!

So we've been working on giving Maddux lots and lots of tummy time, and I think it's paying off. We have been stopping by Buzzy's Play yard at the mall a couple of times lately and Maddux loves to watch all the kids run around. It seems to keep him entertained and he will tolerate a bit more time on his tummy than at home. You can see in the video below that he is making some progress. He'd still much rather be up and walking!! OH and by the way, you can see that Maddux's favorite thing to do right now is clap!!!

Fun with Meme and Grandpa

At least once a week Meme and Grampa try to come over and spend some time with Maddux. Meme sometimes gets to come by or we meet up a few more times a week, but her schedule is more flexible than Grampa's. Maddux loves spending time with them whenever and however! The first video is of Maddux and Grampa. Maddux was fascinated with his beard, don't know that he'd seen one of those before.

Meme gave Maddux a cup to play with so I sat on the floor and played copy cat with him! He is so much fun!

9 Month Check up

We had Maddux's nine month check up today. Everything looks good. The only concern is that he's not crawling, I guess he'll do it when he's ready. The doctor said his shoulders were a little weak so to give him a lot of tummy time, she said his legs and core were very strong so we'll just have to work on the shoulders a bit. She felt that with added strength in his shoulders that he would be able to crawl. She said that the weakness could delay him a bit. So poor Maddux is going to Tummy Time School! Hopefully this is all that it is. She didn't seem too worried so I guess I shouldn't be either. She told me I could start giving him more table food, like meat and cheese! This should be fun! Now for the numbers! Maddux weighed 21 lbs 10 oz which was 70th percentile. He was 30 and a half inches tall which was 97th percentile. And his head circumference was 45th percentile, I forgot the number. All in all it was a good visit!

Walking before Crawling????

Most of you all know that Maddux has yet to crawl. He likes to scoot backwards and roll around a lot, but when it comes to crawling, he's just not there. He does however really like to stand and walk. At the end of this video it appears as if he takes a couple steps. I know that they aren't really legitimate walking steps, but they are still fun to see!

This is another toy we borrowed from the Boyers. Yes, we borrowed quite a few! And yes we have bought Maddux some of his own, haha! But what a great way to save a little cash and don't worry, Brennan, as soon as you can sit up I have some for you!! Maddux will sit and play with the beads on this toy for quite a while. He will even reach through an move some in the middle. I love watching him try to figure things out! Here is a quick video!

Lights and Waving

I absolutely love this video! I was so lucky to get it too. I asked Maddux to point to the light and he did it and then I asked him to clap and he did that too. I couldn't believe he actually did it and I caught it on video. That never happens! He loves to point to the light and will do so in every room, even outside. I guess he is smart enough to know that the sun gives off light too! Haha! His clapping sort of looks like he is wiping off his hands, but I think it's cute! He is so much fun!

Ears, Trains, and lights on the ceiling!

This video is from our trip to SC. Maddux has discovered ears, specifically Matt's ears. I guess because Matt doesn't have a lot of hair to cover them up. He was fascinated and played with Matt's ears for quite a while. The dialogue between Matt and his Gramma is kind of funny too! I just thought this was cute and wanted to share!

Only the Rothell's would run out into the road and watch a train go by. You can see how excited we all are about the train. Next to Nanny's house a train goes by quite often. Maddux loved watching it so of course Doug had to run him out there to watch every train that came by! You can see Maddux waving at the train a few times! He was with his Aunt Tammy.

Okay, this last one is funny. We had finished dinner and Doug was holding Maddux and we noticed Maddux looking up at the ceiling and grunting. We then realized that he saw the reflection of Uncle Eric's watch on the ceiling. Wow, that kid is observant!

Trip to SC.

We had a great trip to SC, sorry for not posting in the mean time. We spent time with Nanny and Gramma and got to see Aunt Donnie and Eric, Tammy, and Seth. Maddux was a saint, just going with the flow and barely got upset at all. In fact Nanny still says he never cries! We all know that isn't all true. Maddux got to see a big long train and was mesmerized. He was very agreeable to whatever was going on and was very entertaining!

We borrowed some toys from the Boyer's the other day to use for a couple months until Brennan is ready for them and one of them is a driving toy. I don't think I'll be driving with Maddux anytime soon, he likes the gas way too much! You can also see his little dance to the music that he has started doing. So much fun everyday!!!

Good Morning Maddux!

Maddux has begun moving around in his crib over the past couple of weeks. Quite a few times I've got in to check on him and he's been on his side or on his belly, sometimes even up against the side of the crib. He is just beginning to realize that he can really move, hopefully he'll figure out the crawling at some point because he does everything but crawl right now! Lately, Lisa and I have really enjoyed having the boys play together. Maddux is between the two Boyer boys so he can play a bit with both of them. I love seeing them together, it's so fun! And we are are so fortunate to have the boys so close in age!! We love the Boyer's! The picture above was when the four of us plus our friend Erica, who took the picture went to Camille's for lunch. If you've never been to Camille's, you are missing out! They are super child friendly plus the food is really good! I don't quite know what Maddux's fascination with other people's hair is, but he likes to touch other people's heads. Sorry Brennan!
Clay stopped by to play with Maddux's new stand up toy. Clay was showing him how to touch the right colors. Maddux isn't quite there yet, but hopefully Clay will be able to teach him!

Meme's special outfit

I couldn't resist taking these pictures last Sunday when I dressed Maddux in Meme's outfit. Meme, my mom, bought Maddux this outfit before he was born and it was finally warm enough to wear it. It is short sleeved. She also knitted this sweater and hat for him. In case you can't see there are even really cute football buttons on it. I love it! I've also requested another sweater and hat set for next winter in blue!! Maddux has worn this sweater and hat quite a bit. This hat, however, is the second one she made. I was a bad mommy and lost the first one while out with Grandpa one day! Sorry Meme. But it's good because she made this hat a bit bigger so he was able to wear it longer!! So it worked out! Maddux really loves to stand on the couch as you can see in the first photo. Maybe it has something to do with the crease in the back of the couch, it kind of acts as a seat for him, haha! I love this kid!

Another Playground with Mommy!

On Wednesday Maddux and I went and met some friends at another community playground. We had a lot of fun as you can see! The pictures are from Lisa, she was nice enough to take some pictures of me with Maddux cause I don't have many since I'm the one taking them most of the time. I absolutely love this time of year, we have been outside till almost 7pm most nights either taking walks or going to the playground or just playing in the yard. Maddux loves to be outside and I can't wait till he is able to explore a little more on his own!!

We took advantage of the break in the rainy weather over the weekend and met some friends at the playground. I thought Maddux might enjoy swinging and playing on the equipment but I'm not sure if Matt didn't enjoy it more!! You can see above Maddux hanging out in the baby swing. I think he liked it! Matt wanted to push him really high but I wouldn't let him.
Beth and I took the kids for a ride on the big people swings. It was so relaxing!
I love this one! Don't worry, he didn't go down by himself! He enjoyed going down on his tummy facing backwards the best.

Kisses, scooting, and Cheerios!

Maddux has been very busy this week. We start the week off by giving kisses. So far I've only been able to convince him to give me kisses, which by the way are extremely wet, I know TMI. So if you are feeling jealous that you haven't yet experienced one of Maddux's kisses don't be, hopefully by the time you get one it won't be as juicy! See video below!

Maddux started moving this morning. I've been wondering when he was going to realize that he was capable of moving. It's really funny to watch because he is scooting backwards and pivoting on his belly. I think once he really figures it out and realizes what he is doing we won't be able to slow him down! I guess Matt and I need to buy some gates!

Summer has figured out that the place to be during meal times is by Maddux's highchair. I thought she would figure it out pretty quickly. Every time she heard a cheerio drop she would come running, so I guess she figured she should just park and wait! I'm sure it was much easier than jumping off the couch and running into the kitchen every time.

Open, Close, Open, Close, it's really quite funny!

As I was putting Maddux to bed tonight he found something that was quite funny. At least he thought it was. I always read Maddux Goodnight Moon before putting him down. Tonight after I read it I closed the book and he started giggling. Usually by this time he's got his hands over his face and he wants to go to sleep. So I opened the book back up and he started laughing again. So the next 3-4 minutes, not kidding I was sitting by a clock, I opened and closed the book, showing different pages of course and the whole time he just giggled. It was so simple yet so funny! I love it when the unexpected happens like that!!

Well we just found out that the discovery baby Einstein gym doubles as a barbell. You can see that Maddux is getting his lifting in this morning. He has decided that he needs to exercise like mommy and daddy. Watch out, he's a strong one!
Pop and Gam fixed up Uncle Brett's old toy box for us to store Maddux's toys in for now. Of course we'll gladly share if Uncle Brett needs it in the future. Maddux loves trying to pull up on it and loves to put things in and lean over to try to get them back out! Thanks Gam and Pop!
With the rainy day outside today I decided to join my friend Beth and her daughter Lily at the Library. Maddux loved watching Lily get excited about all the books. As you can see Lily is showing Maddux the proper way to handle books, I don't think he gets it yet! Haha! I hope to make this a regular thing. Reading is so important and I love it and I want Maddux to be exposed and hopefully love it too!
Lastly, you can see that Maddux has finally gained enough flexibility to eat his feet. He also figured out how to pull socks off so I guess I'm glad it's spring because I don't think he is going to want to keep socks on for very long!

Did you really think Matt would wait till Maddux was walking to begin the sport training? Well, you get your answer in this quick video. Maddux and Matt enjoy rolling the baseball around, especially in the evening before dinner when Maddux is tired. The rolling of the ball keeps him entertained quite easily. Maddux is really good at stopping the ball now and quite often gets it into his mouth for a quick chew. Sometimes he'll even sort of roll it back a little ways!

Why Hello!

Maddux has begun to understand waving. I think anyway. I catch him doing it at very odd times, but then sometimes I can actually convince him to do it. I've been practicing with him at odd times too, like we wave goodbye to the diapers as they go into the diaper genie. I know I'm weird! Here is a quick clip of a time I actually got him to do it! An Outing to Charlottesville

Tuesday of Spring break Mom, Maddux, and I took off to Charlottesville to visit some of our family. Our first stop was at Aunt Judy's and Uncle Charlie's house. Maddux was moving around a lot so most of my photos had a little blur to them. We had a nice time visiting and Maddux was into everything!Our next stop was at Aunt Judy and Uncle Charlie's Farm. They have 7 horses and 2 on the way. Maddux had a good time talking to Winnie! He loves the horses! He just squealed and squealed.
Our next stop was to visit Mom's cousin Nancy. We ate lunch with Nancy and had a really nice visit.
Our last stop was to visit Aunt Hazeltine. She is almost 97 and doing great! She is my great Aunt so Maddux's great great aunt! She was very happy to meet Maddux and visit with us.

First of all Happy Easter to all of you! Isn't it wonderful that we have the hope that we do in Christ! We had a wonderful time with my parents. Mom did most of the cooking but I did a little to help. We ate, took a walk, and played! The funniest part of the day was when Matt, Maddux, and I were playing at the end of the day. He was making some really funny noises including a mooing sound and possibly a mama in there! You be the judge, regardless it was hilarious!

The Big Bath Tub!!

Maddux had a bath last night in the big bath tub for the first time! He is officially a big boy now! He took one little slip last night after Matt stood him up but he didn't even cry, he was so happy about kicking and splashing without any restraint! I will have to say that I am going to invest in a bath mat because the little guy was all over the tub last night reaching for everything including the lint that came out from between his toes. Yes, I know that is gross, but toe lint is interesting to a little guy! Enjoy the pics!

I went to the gym this morning and while I was out Meme stayed with Maddux. When I came home she had a great time telling me that Maddux had been playing his instruments with his mouth. I believed her but I had no clue how funny it actually was. There is no way to describe it other than watching. I really enjoyed watching him play!! I hope you will too!!

So lately we have found that Maddux loves to eat, not just food either. I've found him trying to eat everything in his path. For example, you can see above he is eating his jungle gym, the carrot, and the vacuum cord! And the cutest thing is when he eats, food that is, he is like a baby bird. He will hold his mouth open and wait for food to be spooned to him. It is the funniest thing to watch!

Shoes! Shoes! And More Shoes!

We have recently discovered that Maddux loves shoes. He loves to touch them, play with them, hold them, scratch them, and of course try to eat them. He also loves to watch you move your feet with or without shoes on. I put shoes on him for the first time the other day because I didn't want him to lose his socks when we went walking the other day and he thought they were the greatest thing! He was pulling at them and just laughing away! By the way these shoes belong to the one and only GRANDPA Hill!
